Tour Itinerary
São Vicente
Nestled between basaltic lava on the North Coast, Sao Vicente boasts narrow streets, ancient homes, and a 17th-century church. Nearby, a coastal park showcases Madeira’s endemic flora. Explore volcanic caves, though currently closed.
Ponta Delgada
Head through the pretty São Vicente village to reach the lovely Ponta Delgada. Surrounded by green mountains, this calm fishing village has the Bom Jesus church by the sea and a modern lido complex. Passing through “Boaventura,” enjoy the beautiful views.
Cabanas Viewpoint
From Boaventura, the old road to Arco de Sao Jorge is one of the most dramatic in Madeira. Passing through an old tunnel we reach Arco de São Jorge, a lush farmland with vineyards. After several hairpin bends we reach, Cabanas Viewpoint, also known as Miradouro da Beira da Quinta. The houses of Arco de São Jorge and the Rose garden lay small and far below. You can admire the beautiful north-western coast line as far as Porto Moniz.
Porto da Cruz
Driving down to the North Coast, to a rural village of Porto da Cruz. Located at the foot of a Rock called Penha d´Aguia and on the other side, steep terraced slopes. The only running sugar mill in the north coast is located in this village. Its brick chimney stands up high in the village. It has a beautiful sea promenade. This small village of Porto da Cruz has a maze of alleys and the former warehouses are being converted into cafes.

Pico do Facho Viewpoint
Machico Bay, where Zarco and Tristão Vaz Teixeira first landed during Madeira’s discovery, features a uniquely shaped valley resembling a balcony overlooking the sea and mountains. Historically vital, it thrived with sugar cane crops and mills, vital for Madeira’s economy until the 17th century. Pico do Facho, a 320-meter-high peak on the eastern side, derives its name from the beacon that once warned of approaching pirates.
Santa Cruz
Your next and final stop is the town next to the Airport, Santa Cruz. It is a rewarding place for a short stay. The pebbled beach is lined with large palm trees and the colourful fishing boats lay between them. The market hall is famous for its fresh fish, unimaginable fruit and vegetables. There is a large tiled frieze at the entrance depicting the fishermen. The white attractive church is from the sixteenth century and is well preserved.
