Tour Itinerary

Santa Cruz

The Theme Park tour starts with the pickup from your Hotel between 9h00 and 9h30. Your first stop is at the town next to the Airport, Santa Cruz. Rewarding place for a short stay of 30 minutes.

The pebble beach is lined with large palm trees and colourful fishing boats lay between them. The market hall is famous for its fresh fish, unimaginable fruit and vegetables. There is a large tiled frieze at the entrance depicting the fishermen. The white attractive church is from the sixteenth century and is well preserved.

Faial

Then driving to the northern side of the island. In the centre of this village is the new bridge that replaced one swept away in flash floods in 1980. Spanning the Ribeira Seca (dry River) which lives up to its name most of the year but can rise to a raging torrent with autumn rains. The village is the best spot to take in the gaunt heights of Penha d´ Aguia (eagles rock) the peak that overshadows Faial, rising sheer from the sea to a height of 590 mts (1936 ft)

Santana A-Framed Houses

Your next stop is in a charming village called Santana. Presenting a picture of domestic and agricultural prosperity. The predominant colours are the greens of terraced fields and hay meadows, interspersed by apple, pear and cherry orchards, dotted among the haystack are triangular thatched buildings, used by local farmers as cow sheds, traditionally people lived in these ingenious structures. You will discover how spacious the ´A` farmed buildings are when you visit one.
